About

Gary Wilkinson (Alikivi) has 30 years experience as a Film Maker based in Tyneside, UK and is currently working on a book project featuring interviews with North East musicians.

His photography collection was recently added to South Tyneside History website https://southtynesidehistory.co.uk/archive/photographs?

Along with interviews with musicians, artists, actors and writers this blog includes stories on making over 20 self-financed Tyneside social documentaries, including Wildflower about South Shields born Eileen O’Shaughnessy, wife of George Orwell. The film was screened on the Isle of Jura in Scotland where Orwell wrote 1984.

Little Ireland a film looking at the Irish immigration into Jarrow is featured along with a short documentary about South Shields photographer & historian Amy Flagg, plus a Tyneside rockumentary We Sold Our Soul for Rock n Roll. Also Secrets & Lies about the life of Italian born artist & author Baron Avro Manhattan who had homes in London and Spain and lived out his last years in South Shields.
